Getting started
Do I need to buy a device?
No. TinyTasks runs on any iPad on iPadOS 15.1 or later. That includes the older one in a drawer.
What ages is it for?
TinyTasks is built to work before a child can read, which is what makes it fit young kids. Most families using it have kids between about four and eight. Younger kids can use it with a little help, and plenty keep using it well past eight.
Does it work on iPhone or Android?
iPad only for now. The cards are sized for a tablet so a small kid can use the board on their own.
Is TinyTasks a Skylight alternative?
Yes, if you want the chore board without the $300 screen. TinyTasks runs on the iPad you already own. See the full comparison with Skylight Calendar.
Subscriptions and billing
How much does it cost?
Free for one kid. TinyTasks Plus is $18.99 a year or $2.99 a month. TinyTasks Plus Lifetime is $49.99 once.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every new account starts with a 14-day trial of Plus.
What's included in the free plan?
The free plan includes:
- 1 kid profile - Manage tasks for one child
- Unlimited daily tasks - Create as many "anytime" tasks as you need
- Interactive task board - Tap to complete tasks with a simple, kid-friendly interface
- Basic chore icons - Choose from a set of fun icons
- Custom avatars - Upload photos for your kids
- Accent colors - Personalize each kid's profile color
What do I get with TinyTasks Plus?
Plus unlocks everything:
- Unlimited kid profiles - Add all your children
- Events - Schedule birthdays, activities, appointments, and more
- Time-of-day scheduling - Assign tasks to morning, afternoon, or evening
- Celebration GIFs - Fun animated celebrations when tasks are completed
- Premium icons - Access the full library of chore icons
- Passcode protection - Lock the settings with a 4-digit PIN so kids can't make changes
How do I cancel my subscription?
TinyTasks subscriptions are managed through Apple. To cancel:
- Open the Settings app on your iPad
- Tap your Apple ID at the top
- Tap Subscriptions
- Find TinyTasks and tap it
- Tap Cancel Subscription
Your Plus features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. The free tier stays, so your board and your kid's profile don't go anywhere.
I purchased Plus but it's not showing up
Try these steps:
- Make sure you're signed into the same Apple ID you used to purchase
- Go to Settings > Subscription in TinyTasks and tap "Restore Purchases"
- If still not working, contact us via the support button and we'll help sort it out
Account and security
Can I lock kids out of editing?
Yes. Turn on the 4-digit parent passcode, a Plus feature, and kids can mark tasks done but can't change tasks, schedules, or settings.
What's the difference between my password and a passcode?
They're two different things:
- Password - Your account login credentials. Used to sign into TinyTasks on a new device or after signing out.
- Passcode - A 4-digit PIN that locks the settings/dashboard (Plus feature). This prevents kids from accidentally changing tasks or settings while using the board.
I forgot my password
On the login screen, tap "Forgot password?" and enter your email. We'll send you a link to reset it. Check your spam folder if you don't see it within a few minutes.
I forgot my passcode
After 3 failed attempts, a "Contact Support" option will appear. Tap it to send us a message and we'll help you reset your passcode.
I didn't receive my verification email
A few things to try:
- Check spam/junk folders - Email providers sometimes filter these
- Wait a few minutes - Emails can occasionally be delayed
- Check the email address - Make sure you signed up with the correct email
- Try again - You can request a new verification email from the login screen
If you're still having trouble, contact support and we'll help verify your account manually.
Using TinyTasks
How do daily vs. weekly tasks work?
- Daily tasks - Appear every single day. Perfect for things like "Brush teeth" or "Make bed" that happen daily.
- Weekly tasks - Appear only on the specific days you choose. Great for things like "Take out trash" (Tuesdays) or "Clean room" (Saturdays). Weekly tasks require TinyTasks Plus.
What are time periods (morning, afternoon, evening)?
Time periods let you organize when tasks should be done throughout the day (Plus feature):
- Morning - Shows on the board from 12am to 12pm
- Afternoon - Shows on the board from 12pm to 5pm
- Evening - Shows on the board from 5pm to 12am
A task can appear in multiple time periods. For example, "Brush teeth" might be set for both morning AND evening. The task will appear as separate items during each time period and can be completed independently.
If you don't select any time periods, the task shows all day. Free users can only create all-day tasks.
Why can't I add another kid?
The free plan is limited to 1 kid profile. To add more children, upgrade to TinyTasks Plus which includes unlimited kid profiles.
Can multiple parents use the same account?
Yes! You can sign into the same TinyTasks account on multiple iPads. Changes sync automatically across all devices.
Why can I only select dates within this week?
The board view focuses on the current week to keep things simple and actionable for kids. Tasks automatically reset and recur based on their schedule, so you don't need to plan far in advance.
